Liz Dawes ’85 Receives OAM

Liz Miller Dawes ’85 received an OAM (Medal of the Order Australia) during the 2022 Australia Day Awards for her dedication and service to pediatric brain cancer. Liz’s 18-year-old son Connor passed in 2013 from brain cancer. Liz founded with her husband, Scott ’84, the Robert Connor Dawes Foundation in 2013 and has been CEO and chairperson since its inception. The Foundation operates in Australia (the Dawes family has lived in Melbourne, Australia, since 2000) and also the United States. Connor’s Erg is one of the foundation’s main events, and the UW men’s and women’s rowing teams have been active participants each year. The foundation gives annually to American Family Children’s Hospital pediatric brain cancer research.
