Two unlikely creatures joined forces to create an epic rock band.
Let us sett the scene…
In the heart of a college campus nestled between two lakes, an unlikely friendship bloomed between two very different creatures: a flamingo named Frankie and a badger named Bucky. Frankie was elegant, graceful, and vibrantly pink. He spent a lot of time on Bascom Hill. Bucky was quiet, mostly making gestures with his hands, doing tricks, and causing mischief.
Their paths first crossed during the UW Homecoming parade. Frankie dazzled crowds with his dance moves, while Bucky drummed on the UW Band’s instruments. They felt a special connection when their eyes met — a spark that went beyond their obvious differences.
“You’ve got style, my feathered friend,” Bucky signed.
“And you’ve got rhythm, my furry friend,” Frankie replied.
They discovered their shared love for rock-’n’-roll. Frankie sang soulful tunes, while Bucky’s drumming echoed through campus like a heartbeat.
One evening, while sharing a pitcher at the Terrace, they decided to form a band — the Badger Flockstars. Their rehearsals were a sight to behold. Frankie would stand on one leg, harmonizing with the Carillon Tower as Bucky hammered the beat on old cafeteria trays.
Word of the Badger Flockstars spread quickly across campus. The duo’s undeniable stage chemistry captivated Madisonians. They wrote songs about campus life, late-night pizza runs, and their love for UW–Madison. Soon, they were invited to perform at local gigs, most notably on the Terrace stage, where it all began!
Frankie and Bucky became inseparable as their fame grew. They navigated university life together, facing midterms, study sessions, and the occasional run-in with campus security when they played on Library Mall.
The Badger Flockstars captivated students milling about campus and alumni on their livestreams, and they became a familiar duo during Fill the Hill and Day of the Badger, raising funds for the school they know and love.
And so, in the heart of Madison, amid the bustling halls of the UW, the Badger Flockstars carved out their place in rock-’n’-roll history, proving music knows no boundaries, and friendship knows no species.
